Frequently Asked Questions About D'Antiques Business
Practices
- How can I contact D'Antiques?
We use the following image for our contact data to avoid the robots 'Spammers'
are using to collect email addresses from sites like ours. Sorry for any inconvenience
but we hate to sift through all the junk mail to find the important messages-
like yours!
- Why don't you publish your phone number and street address?
We had our phone number easily accessible for quite a while but tired of
receiving phone calls in the middle of the night- many from people who wanted
to sell us things! (You may find our phone number through a Whois query for dantiques.com but please be courteous and remember we are in the Arizona time zone, which is 2 or 3 hours behind the East Coast)
Since the business is in our home, having our street address published opened
another can of worms, which you surely can imagine.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- PayPal (Now International!!!):

An on-line credit card service, owned by eBay, that provides low-cost Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express
payments.
If you do not have a PayPal account, follow this
PayPal Link to establish one!
- Major Credit cards:

American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa. These payments are processed through PayPal using their secure site.
(Please take the time to read our discussion of
Credit Card and Shipping Practices
- Check (USA only):
Via Mail
- Money Order:
In US funds only via postal service
- Cash: At the buyer's risk. We DO NOT recommend this method

- How can I be sure you won't cheat me?
We see discussions frequently regarding how to protect yourself when
doing business on the Web. Our answer is simple- "Only do business with honest
people". Reputable people will gladly provide references which you can use
to evaluate their veracity. They will also tell you openly who they are and
how to contact them should trouble arise and they will guarantee their merchandise.
We are suspicious of those who do not. Here are a few of our references
, our current rating at the Ebay Auction site (where we do occasional
business as 'dandlyin') is over 1300, here is who we are
, and here is our Guarantee . The next section
tells you how to contact us.
- How do I order an item I want?
- SEND A PURCHASE ORDER
TO D'ANTIQUES
When you find an item you want, click on the 'ORDER' box
in front of the item description. You will be presented with an order
form which lists the items you have selected to this point and options
to remove, increase quantities, etc. When it looks correct to you, either
click 'Back' on your browser or 'Check Out' on the form. From this point
on, just follow the instructions that should guide you through the process.
- WAIT FOR A PAYMENT RECEIPT OR A FINAL INVOICE
FROM D'ANTIQUES
When we receive your purchase order, we verify shipping/handling
costs for all the items you ordered.
- If you are paying by credit card, AND YOU SUBMITTED YOUR DATA
ON-LINE and if the invoice amount is within $3 of the total you were
given on-line, we will proceed with the charge without waiting for
additional authorization. If the charge is approved, we will send
you a payment receipt and shipping schedule via e-mail.
- Otherwise, we will send you an invoice (by electronic
mail) which lists the total cost for your order (Please take the time
to read our discussion of Credit Card and
Shipping Practices ).
If you don't receive our invoice or Payment Receipt within 24 hours,
please check HERE to make sure we had your correct
e-mail address. We would hate to see you miss an item because we couldn't
figure out your e-mail address!
- IF YOU RECEIVE AN INVOICE
- SEND CONFIRMATION AND/OR AUTHORIZATION TO D'ANTIQUES
READ and CHECK the details on the invoice. Reply to the invoice
message, confirming or correcting the details and confirming
your intention to complete the transaction. If you will be paying
via PayPal, mailing payment or mailing/Faxing credit card data, tell
us you plan to do so. Please understand- we
do not hold merchandise until we receive confirmation.
Some of the orders we receive are never confirmed so it would be silly
to hold things for people who were not serious.
- WAIT FOR FINAL CONFIRMATION FROM D'ANTIQUES
Infrequently, 2 or more people order the same item within
a short time. If we have not received confirmation from the first
person, or if multiple orders are received at the same time, we send
invoices to all people. The first person who confirms his/her intent
to complete the transaction receives first rights to the merchandise.
We send a notice to the successful buyer, telling them that we will
hold the merchandise for a specified time period, while waiting for
their payment. We also send a notice to the other person, telling
them that the items are no longer available because earlier confirmation
was received from another buyer and that their order is canceled.
It is important for you to confirm your order promptly if you want
the items you ordered because someone else may have ordered them too.
Curiously, we have had this happen several times for items that had
been in our catalog for several weeks.
- SEND PAYMENT OR
DATA TO D'ANTIQUES
If mailing, be sure to include the Order ID and mail to
our Snail Mail address above.
- By Check ( This method is only available to residents
of the US.)
Make payable to D'Antiques, Ltd. We hold all orders paid for with
unsecured checks for 10 business days after receipt to be sure
they clear. Checks returned NSF are subject to a $25 fee. Failure
to clear a check which was returned to us subjects the sender
to exposure on our Wall of Shame
.
- By money order
Make sure the currency is US$, make payable to D'Antiques,
Ltd.
- By credit card- (submitting data other than on-line)
Make sure to include the card number, Security Code (the last
3 digits of numbers that appear within the signature area on the
back of the card), Exp. date, the billing data (Name and address)
for the person to whom the card was issued, and a signed authorization
for us to charge the amount of the invoice to the card. You should
have received a model form from our site when you placed the order.
Make any changes necessary and use it if convenient for you. You
may either mail it to the Snail Mail address above or Fax it to
the Fax number above.
- Why We Do Not Ship COD .
- How do you rate the condition of your items?
Please read D'Antiques Condition Ratings .
- Legal Issues
When you confirm your order and receive final confirmation from us, a legally-binding
agreement between yourself and D'Antiques is created. The terms are very simple:
we are obligated to hold the items for you for the specified time and to ship
the products we described to you within a reasonable time period once you
provide payment for them. You are obligated to send payment within the agreed
time period. We take our obligations seriously and expect our customers to
do the same. When buyers do not send payment, we are damaged financially because
the goods they reserved were not available for sale to others. We may report
such failures to other dealers on the Web, or post public notices on theWall
of Shame on our site, particularly if it appears the lack of action was
malicious. Unfortunately, these statements are the result of sad experience
with irresponsible people over the past 4 years- not many but enough to require
this policy statement. By placing your order, you state that you have read,
understand and accept the terms of the agreement and agree to uphold your
obligations in completing the transaction. If you
do not intend to meet the terms of the agreement, please cancel the order
immediately!
- What guarantees do I get?
We warrant that the item you receive will be the one that was described
to you and that its condition will be as described. Should you have complaints,
we will work with you to resolve them. We have worked for many years to establish
our good reputation and will not jeopardize it by cheating you. Please understand
however that changing your mind does not constitute grounds for complaint
and you will pay the costs associated with returning items. Do not return
an item without receiving authorization and instructions from us in advance.
If we agree to allow an item to be returned, and subsequently determine that
it was without just cause, we may charge a Restocking Fee. Items must be returned
to us within 10 days or they will not be accepted. If returned items are damaged,
either through shipping or customer handling, D'Antiques will determine the
cost of the damage and adjust the amount to be refunded accordingly. We
will always be fair. You
acknowledge that you have read and accept this return policy as a term of this
purchase agreement by placing your order with us. Be certain you insure a
returned item if its value warrants it, otherwise you will be personally
responsible for the damage.
- What do the Hold/Sold signs on items mean?
The Hold signs
mean the items have been ordered but we are waiting for payment. You can place
a second order for a Hold item, just in case the buyer doesn't complete the
transaction (this happens in about 5% of our orders). The Sold
signs mean we have
been paid for the item but have not yet shipped it. As soon as an item is
shipped, it is removed from the display area.
- Any other disclaimers?
Like any other business, we reserve certain rights. These include, but
are not limited to:
- Due to the labor involved in processing orders, we have a $9.98 minimum
for the total of all items in an order, excluding freight. We are sorry to find it necessary, but orders
smaller than that are just not profitable for us.
We do not try to make money on shipping/handling charges but we do try to
recover our investment in the process.
To account for these costs, we add $2.50 to each order.
-
In spite of the care we use in packing, damage sometimes occurs
in-transit (less than 1 in 1000). Fragile items and all items of $50
value or higher will be insured through USPS or other insurers. It
is important that you keep all original packing materials and
paperwork in case we need to file a claim for damage. We will work
with you in case of damage to lower valued products.
- We may refuse to sell to people who have given us
cause by not honoring their promise to send payment, by sending us bad checks
or just by being obnoxious.
- We are professionals and seldom make typographical
errors in pricing. In the rare event that we do, we are not obligated to sell
at a price that was posted in error.
- Most things we sell are used and were not designed or built by us. We disclaim
any liability for damages or personal injury which may be incurred by our
customers in using items they purchase from us. By submitting an order, you
certify that you understand and accept the terms of this policy.
Thanks for visiting our junk. We hope you had fun and will come back sometime.
We add new things nearly every day and you never know what might show up.
The following are just a few of the people with whom we have done business.
They have volunteered to testify to the integrity of our Internet dealings.
Feel free to contact them if you would like to. Besides being good customers,
they are also ALL *Good People*.
