We are in the process of changing our condition ratings for vinyl recordings to the Goldmine scale, an industry standard. Because many items are involved and the task is not a high priority, it will be months before we complete it. If the Condition Rating for an item you want is in the form letter/letter, the first value is the disc condition and the second is the cover condition. If the Condition rating is a single word- Excellent, Fair, etc., we have not yet evaluated the item using the Goldmine scale.
Information about the Goldmine scale may be found HERE.
Here are the conditions ratings we use to describe most of our other products:
They are obviously listed from best to worst. Except for the first rating, condition appraisal is subjective and will differ from person to person. We try to be very conservative in our appraisals but we are not perfect and occasionally we miss defects. We count on our buyers to report such problems so we can take remedial actions. We have built a base of repeat buyers from our integrity and believe that customers must trust us in order for our little business to continue to thrive.
It is impossible to develop a rigid set of rules to follow because of the range of products we handle but the reasons for our condition appraisal should be apparent from the Condition Description which follows our rating. In all but the top categories, any flaws we see are reported. If the item has both cosmetic and operation factors, we try to combine the ratings for each and report flaws for both in the Description. An example might be an item whose Condition is reported as Very Good, followed by a description: 'cosmetics are nearly perfect but the 5 key does not function.' As in all transactions, inquire about anything you do not understand and we will give an honest answer as promptly as possible.
We have been disappointed by a few visitors who do not take the time to read and understand the information we provide concerning the way we conduct our business. Communication is a two-way process and we need your assistance to avoid misunderstandings. We thank you for your involvement in the process.
