OSBORNE MODEL 1

Apparently, there were at least 3 versions of the Model 1.

  1. The first used full-height, single-density floppy drives and a unique enclosure. :

  1. A second version is described in a brochure from which the following picture was copied. It had a better enclosure and nicer keyboard but still had single-density drives. We have never seen this configuration and it is possible that none was made.
  2.

  3. All those we have owned used the newer enclosure and had double-density drives. These are sometimes referred to as the Model 2, erroneously in our opinion. We have seen 2 different configurations of this model:
This one had a fan that extended outside the case

This one had no fan- just a vent behind a sliding panel on top-rear

Note the robust (764 pages!) manual with white cover. Others were delivered with a smaller version with blue cover.
