Game Summary
Seen from the eyes of the front office, BIG LEAGUE BASEBALL is a far different sport than the game that's played on the field. A club's manager, general manager, and owner form an all-powerful triumvirate- a force which constantly seeks the elusive and mysterious blend of player-talent that can bring a team the coveted World Series ring. The men behind the scenes are just as important to a team's success as the players themselves, for the front office has to view the long season not from the perspective of the playing field but from afar. A team's success on the field one day may turn into disaster the next- unless a proper balance of skills has been carefully built-up that can enable the team to withstand the rigors of the long season. PENNANT RACE is a simple baseball game that enables the gamers to recreate an actual 162-game schedule for all 26 major league teams in a remarkably short period of time. Confrontations between teams are resolved quickly and simply by a unique procedure that accurately reflects all of the key elements of modern baseball: Game resolution takes no more than a few minutes, as players make simple calculations and references to individual and team statistics. But be careful! During the course of a grueling season, teams may fall prey to injuries or slumps, necessitating roster changes through trades with other teams or from a club's own minor league system. PENNANT RACE includes a Team Roster Booklet, presenting a carefully-prepared roster for all 26 major league teams. Each roster includes 25 players, all of which are statistically evaluated in several key areas of play.
