Local Reviews:
This is most likely one of the most hidden and interesting games ever made. ; ; My friend and I used to play alot of videogames every single day until we got tired of beating each other up on a tv screen. He reached into his closet and pulled out what looked like an ancient game. Input. It looked simple enough so we gave it a shot.;; We had no idea how much depth this game had.;; You have pieces that are 'programmed' to move in specific patterns across the playing board. The object is to have one of your pieces land on top of the other player's piece, killing his piece and removing it from the board. You 'load' the pieces into a waiting area where they are executed in sequence. You begin with 4 pieces which you can play at will. With each piece going into play, you are given a chance to load another one on your next turn. ;; The trick is thinking a few steps ahead and beating your opponent by out-thinking them. If your pieces are scheduled to hit the same spot, you're locked, and neither piece can move until your opponent lands on that spot (for an easy kill). You can out-think yourself in this game, so every move is very important. Every piece you load is important as well, because sequence counts. If you out-think and out-play your opponent properly, the game can last 15 minutes or less. If you are on even footing with your opponent, it's possible the game can last hours. ;; Warning: this game is very addictive. The more you play it, the more depth you begin to see. This game really was 'ahead of it's time' and I'd like to actually put it online via Flash or some other technology. It's infinitely playable, and you cannot really ever master it. You can get very good, as can your opponent, but it only makes the game that much tougher. It's also possible to have a draw game *which is VERY rare*, but it's one of the few board games made in the 80's that allow this. Most other games were designed to let one player completely dominate if they had the skill. ;; All in all, one of the best board games ever made. The pace can be fast, the stakes can get high, and you can definitely shoot yourself in the foot with one wrong move. I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys chess or other tactical/strategic games. ;; *note: we used to play Risk around the same time as our re-discovery of Input
